Land Ledger

Daily fingerprints

Once a day the ledger turns every record written that day into one long code, its fingerprint, and links it to the day before. If anyone later changes or removes a record from that day, or from any earlier day, the code no longer comes out the same.

Keep a copy

A fingerprint only protects you if you hold your own copy. Then nobody can quietly change both the records and the published value.

  1. Save today's list. Choose Download the list, or copy the latest code and its day.
  2. Put it somewhere you trust, such as an email to yourself or a note on your phone.
  3. Come back any time and check it with the box next to this one.
